South Aragon Campaign
Madrid, December 15.
The Republicans, in an effort to upset the insurgent offensive preparations, carried out an offensive of their own in South Aragon, driving through a snowstorm against the rebel salient in Teruel and ajso pressing Teruel city. The Republicans also shelled concentrations round Madrid. The insurgents retaliated by shelling the centre, of the city. OUTBREAK OF TYPHOID Loyalist Forces Suffer (Received December 16, 11.40 p.m.) London, December 16. The Salamanca correspondent of “The Times” states that a serious outbreak of typhoid is reported in tbe Republican forces on tbe Aragon front. The sufferers have been withdrawn to Lerida Hospital. Skin and blood diseases are also believed to be widespread, due to privation an'd inadequate clothing.
