Ministerial. The Hon F. Langstone, Minister of Lands, returned to Wellington from the north yesterday.

Sir Richard Rankine, K.C.M.G., arrived at Wellington yesterday in the Rangitane from London accompanied by Lady Rankine. He was British Resident at Zanzibar till his recent retirement from the Colonial Service. The Hon. Mr. Justice Johnston and Messrs. R. S. Chadwick and A. Coleman, members of the Court of Review, completed a sitting in Hamilton yesterday and left for Wellington last night.

Dr. S. L. Ludbrook, Auckland, is visiting Wellington.

Mr. H. M. Rogerson, Auckland, is visiting Wellington.

Mr. H. H. Sterling left for the south last night by the steamer express. Mr. W. H. Gummer, Auckland, arrived" at Wellington yesterday by train. Mr F. Parsons has been appointed a member of the Patea Harbour Board.

Colonel G J. Smith, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express.

Mr. J. R. McKenzie, Christchurch, returned south last night by the steamer express.

Mr. R. Hudson, Dunedin, a director of the Reserve Bank, arrived at -Wellington yesterday by the steamer express.

Mr. G. F. Glennie, freight and passenger agent for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Wellington, left Auckland yesterday on his return. Mr. A. S. Dunean, Christchurch,, a director of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., returned south last night after a brief visit to Wellington. Mr. M. Silverstone, Dunedin, a director of the Reserve Bank, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express.

Monsignor J. F. McManus, Palmerston North, who has just concluded a holiday visit to England and x Ireland, returned to Wellington yesterday by the Rangitane from London. Messrs. G. R. Ritchie and C. W. Rattray, Dunedin, directors of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., returned south last night by the steamer express.

The Rev. Father L. Smith, who has been on the staff of St. Bede’s College, Christchurch, for some years, has been appointed headmaster of the new Marist Fathers’ Boys' High School at Timaru.

Lieutenant S. R. Le H. LombardHobson, R.N., who replaces Sir Standish O’Grady Roche as A.D.C. to the Governor-General, Lord Galway, arrived at Wellington by the Rangitane from London yesterday.

Major W. G. Stevens, Royal New Zealand Artillery, who is attached to the Prime Minister’s Department as secretary of the Organisation for National Security and of the Council of Defence, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Mr. F. W. Wilson, a director of Wilson and Horton, Ltd., Auckland, arrived at Wellington yesterday by tffie Rangitane from London. With his wife and two daughters, he attended the Coronation and also visited Norway, Sweden and Ireland. .Dr. A. E. Porter, of Reigate, Surrey, a retired medical practitioner, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Rangitane on his third visit.to New Zealand. He was accompanied' by his wife. They plan to remain in New Zealand till toward the end of February, when they are to leave for Sydney. Mr. W. H. Shrubsail, Lower Hutt, head of the engineering department of the Shell Company of New Zealand, Ltd., returned to Wellington by the Rangitane yesterday, after a seven months’ trip to England. He was accompanied by Mrs. Shrubsall and their three children.

Mr. H. White-Wickham, the wellknown angler and deep-sea fisherman, arrived from London by the Rangitane yesterday. He intends to make his headquarters at Deep Water Cove, Bay of Islands. The present visit is Mr. White-Wickham’s fifteenth since 1921, and lie proposes to remain in New' Zealand till May.

Mr. A. Waddington, Sheffield, chairman of the Rotary movement in that city, was a passenger by the Rangitane. which arrived at Wellington from London yesterday. He was accompanied by his wife. During his forthcoming visit to New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, he hopes to meet persons prominent in Rotary circles, and to discuss the movement with them from the international angle.
