Labour Nominations At Auckland

Nominations for the selection of candidates to contest seats on city and suburban local bodies were received at a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee.
Two nominations were for the city mayoralty, and, although no official announcement was made, it is understood they are the deputy-mayor, Hon. Bernard Martin, M.L.C., and Mr. J. Sayegh, who last election came within 343 votes of those polled by Sir Ernest Davis.
Other nominations were received as follows: City council, 54; hospital board, 36; harbour board, 29; power board, 65. There will be mayoralty candidates for the following suburbs : Northcote, Takapuna, Birkenhead, New Lynn, Mount Albert, Mount Bden, Onehunga, an'd Devonport. At previous elections very few suburban mayoralties have been contested.
