A “CINDERELLA” SCHOOL

The Wellington Education Board has been advised by the Education Department that the proposal to erect a shelter porch for the woodwork room at the Lower Hutt Technical School will be considered later when more urgent works have been dealt with. At its meeting yesterday the board decided to refer the matter back to the department with a request for immediate consideration. “This school is treated as a Cinderella,” said the chairman, Mr. W. V. Dyer. “Nearly everything asked for has been refused. Iji this case both teachers and children are suffering great inconvenience from southerly winds, which scatter everything over the room whenever the door is opened.” EASTERN HUTT SCHOOL The Wellington Education Board has received the approval of the Education Department to the rental at 32/6 a week of ’the Knox Presbyterian Church Hall for accommodation of two classes during remodelling of Eastern Hutt infant building.
