DOCKYARD FIRE
Investigation By Police
Sydney, September 27.
Two loud explosions preceded the Are at Cockatoo Dockyard yesterday which caused damage estimated at nearly £30,000. The “Daily Telegraph” says that in view of the fact that a storeman stated that there was nothing in the store to cause either the fire or the explosion, and that the section of the dockyard which was burnt is isolated from the power-house at the week-ends, ruling out the prospect of a short-circuit, the police are investigating the possibility of the fire having been maliciously caused.
