FOOTWEAR TRADE
Lull At Auckland In Past
Two Months
Dominion Special Service.
Auckland, September 27. Statements that the footwear retail trade, as well as manufacturers, had been experiencing rather a lull in the past two months, were made by retailers. They pointed out that, though heavy importations had undoubtedly contributed to slackness in manufacturing, another factor was that the public, from several causes, was not buying as heavily as formerly from the retailer. The consensus of opinion was tjiat •the public had purchased footwear heavily several months ago in anticipation of rises in prices, and a good deal of requirements for some months ahead were thus filled.
