NEW ASSEMBLY HALL
Erection At Wellington East Girls’ College
Steady progress has been maintained witli the erection of the assembly hall for the Wellington East Girls’ College, the construction of which was started on July 12. The framework of the building is completed, and it is expected that the roofing will be finished in time for the laying of the foundation-stone next Saturday.
The hall is a continuation of the north-east wing of the college building, and is on an excavated site. Built of timber with corrugated asbestos roof, it is 74ft. by 40ft., witli a stage 40ft. by 20ft. The hall is flanked on the north by a veranda running its whole length, and hits been designed to accommodate 550 seated. The contractor is Mr. A. King. Wellington, and the cost of the hall is a little more titan £3OOO. Of this £lOOO is being contributed by the parents’ association, which intends to assist with the furnishings also.
