Radio Programmes

Sir, —J was pleased to read “AntiCrooner’s” note to you appreciating the excellent effort being made by Station 2YA to provide music of the cultural type, and I join with him in congratulations, especially to the director. Professor Shelley, in endeavouring to raise the tone of musical reproduction over the air. His efforts are bearing fruit. This congratulation is long overdue, and I have heard many people in my travels around New Zealand remark upon the improved musical programmes since the above-named director took over. He is on the right tracks, and to him I say give‘us more of such programmes, including the eminent artists of world renown. I have heard appreciative references to this station from all classes, and from quarters I least expected. The better class of music is coming into its own — it is sustaining—and listeners are tiring of the rubbish that has been paraded lately under the name of music. • Keep up the good work, 2YA. I doff my hat to you.-I Palmerston North, September 25.
