Unmarried Mothers “Mrs.”
German Minister of the Interior, Dr. Frick, has issued a decree permitting unmarried mothers to style themselves “Mrs.” All they have to do is to inform their local police station that they wish to be so addressed, and they will be referred to as “Mrs.” in all official correspondence. Other unmarried women may also call themselves “Mrs.” without obtaining official consent. When filling in taxation and other official forms they must state that they are unmarried.
