Intention to Return to Three-year Period REDEEMING A PROMISE The intention of the Government to redeem its promise to. the people by bringing down legislation during the coming session reinstating triennial Parliaments was mentioned by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, in an interview last evening. The lite of the last Parliament was extended to four years by the previous Government, which also passed legislation plot Id ing for a permanent extension to four years. . , Mr. Savage said the Government objected to the method adopted to extend the life of Parliament from three to four years, and not to the actual period for which Parliament had been elected. “Any change made by this Government in the term of 1 arilament will be made with the consent of the people,” said the Prime Minister.
