TECHNICAL SCHOOLS Wellington Second Fifteen Beats Masterton A match between the Masterton Technical High School first fifteen anti the second fifteen of Wellington Technical College was played on Prince of Wales Park yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Wellington by 11 points to 3. The teams were :— Mastertoil Technical High School: Wilson; Taylor, Faulkner, Pirere; McNab, Stevenson; Dingwall; Keltic, Larsen, Morris. Hayes, Waring, Mygird, Stevens, Smith. Wellington Technical Collrge second fifteen : Voice ; Duncan, Allerby,' Parkin ; Badland, MeKin'f.y; Oottinghain; D. Smith, K. Smith, Elliott, Rowband, Hume, Campbell, Laughlau, Hunter. Mr. J. Troy was the referee for the match, but had been informed that the game was to start at 3 o’clock, whereas the kick-off took place at 2 o’clock. Gordon Brew, a member of the Wellington Technical College first fifteen, controlled the game capably in the first spell. The Wellington team opened with great dash, and Parkin went over for a try within a few minutes of the kick-off. Duncan failed to add the extra points. Moving fast, Wellington at once came back on the attack, and Parkin, a speedy winger, went over fui- his second try. The ball rolled after it bad been placed for Duncan's kick at goal, but, with the greatest coolness, he sent the leather over the crossbar. In stopping a foot rush, McKinlay, one of the We I ngton fiveeighths. received a severe kick on the head, and had to retire, bis place being taken by Peters. The Masterton lads played much better in the second spell. Dingwall, the Masterton half-back, was responsible for a lot of clever work, and, with the forwards showing dash, Maslerton kept Wellington penned on their line for a long spell. At last a Wellington player was penalised for picking the ball out of the serum, and Faulkner kicked a goal. Toward the end of the game Rowband made a strong run down the line and forced his way over for a try, which Duncan failed to improve. xA spirited game, in which both teams kept going well, ended with the scores standing: Wellington 11, Masterton 3.
