CASES WITHDRAWN
Court Sequel to Upper Hutt Council Action There was a sequel to the motion of censure passed by the Upper Hutt Borough Council at its recent meeting against tho mayor, Mr. A. J. McCurdy, for his actions regarding the issue of summonses against Claude L. Baigent and Arthur Scott, when these summonses were withdrawn by the borough solicitor, Mr A. J. Mazengarb, after they were called in the Magistrate’s Court, Upper Hutt, yesterday. The charge against Scott was of erecting a building without having applied for and obtained a permit. There were two informations against Baigent, one or erecting an obstruction (petrol bowser) on the road without written authority, and a second of storing dangerous goods (petrol) upon his premises without first delivering to the town clerk a written application for the necessary licence. In recording its vote of censure the council ordered the withdrawal of the summonses.
