LIQUOR ON A SUNDAY
Licensee Exonerated, But Visitor Fined . Charges of opening for the sale of liquor, selling and exposing liquor for sale on a Sunday preferred against Hugh Fahey, licensee, Empire Hotel, Petone, were dismissed by Mr. H. P. Lawry, S M in the Magistrate’s Court. Petone. Henry Butler Horsnell, whom Constable J. L. Moore found on the hotel with a glass of ale before him, was fined 10/- with costs for being on licensed premises after hours. The explanation of defendants was that Horsnell had come to the hotel according to daily custom to collect scraps for the feeding of poultry he kept for Fahey, and, as was usual, was “shouted” for by b ahey. Mr. D. M. Dickson represented defendants.
