Shows Follow Sun to Queensland
STANLEY McKAY and his ‘‘Gaieties of 1937” are not the only people who make for sunny Queensland when the bitter southerlies sweep the southern zones of Australia' and New Zealand. Writing to a Wellington friend from northern Queensland, Mr. McKay says that since their arrival in Queensland from New Zealand they have encountered considerable competition in the show business. Otic of the opposition companies was playing "The White Horse Inn” (with 103 people). Then there were three canvas shows, Wirth's Circus, and the usual picture shows in every town and village," so it would be seen that .Northern Queensland does not lack entertainment in the winter.
HPALA BIRRELL, whose first role for the New Universal was in “She’s Dangerous,” and was such a success, has been given the second lead in “As Good As Married.” by Norman Krasna, which is being produced by Eddie Buzzell. This film co-stars John Boles and Doris Nolan. Also in “As Good As Married” are Walter Pidgeon, Alan Mowbray. Mary Phillips. Ernest. Cofisart, David Oliver and Harry Davenport.
