BUDAPEST QUARTET
Charity Concert on Tuesday On Tuesday the music-lovers of Wellington and district will have the opportunity of seeing and hearing one of the world’s most famous ensembles, the Budapest String Quartet, at the Town Hall. In writing of their triumphs in Australia, the “Argus” said: —“The colour employed by these famous players is as kaleidoscopic and as unexpected as their control of climax is unwavering aud spectacular. Lit by emotional ardour, the music ascended in cascades of iiery splendour.” The assisting vocal artist in Tuesday night's charity concert will be .Miss Mary Pratt, a talented South Island contralto. Josef Roismann, Alexander Schneider, Boris Kroyt, and Mischa Schneider —names to conjure with in the musical world —will be heard in'compositions by Haydn, Elgar, and Schubert, and Miss Pratt will sing a group of Grieg’s delightful songs.
