SUCCESSFUL DANCE

Wellington Society of Civil Engineers Successful in every way was the annual dance of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers, held last night at the Mayfair Cabaret, where many dancers moved to the strains of a most rhythmic orchestra and to the most melodious of tunes. The cabaret was attractively decorated and one end of th e main room was furnished as a lounge. Crystal chandeliers and quaintly-shaded standard lamps threw a pleasing glow over the general scene. Claret cup, a popular beverage between dances, was served in the streamerbedecked blue room, and a sit-down supper was set in the Riviera room, where silver epergues, containing glowing poppies and birch, stood on the tables, further colour being introduced by the pastel-tinted serviettes placed before each guest. The dance was attended by the chairman of the Wellington branch, Mr. H. F. Toogood, and Mrs. Toogood, the latter wearing a frock of black marocain with cape sleeves and vestec of Ivory satin embroidered with crystal and silver beads.
