SOCIAL “AT HOME”

Chilton House Old Girls’ Association Miss Leuna Finlay, Lower Hutt, was hostess ou Saturday afternoon at the residence of her aunt, Mrs. 11. W. Kcrsley, Western Hutt Road, at an ‘at home” which was arranged so that members of the new committee of the Chilton House Old Girls’ Association might meet members of the outgoing committee. A cheery log fire offset the rather wintry conditions without, and the guests enjoyed the gulden, which was gay with multi-hued dahlias and autumn-tinted shrubs. Vocal-items by Mrs. J. B. McCallum and Miss Nora Houghton were much appreciated, the singers being accompanied by Mrs. Vickerv and Miss Finlay.. A pianoforte solo by the president of the association, Mrs. 11. D. Vickery, Wellington, was also enjoyed. On behalf of the committee, Miss Daisy Isaacs presented Jirs. Henry Smith with a box of flowers and expressed pleasure at her presence, and thanked her for the great interest she had always taken in the association. Miss Finlay warmly welcomed the president, Mrs. Vickery, who has recently returned fronj abroad, and presented her with a bouquet of crimson berries. Afternoon tea provided an opportunity for social talk, and afterward time was given to the discussion of affairs concerning the association. At the conclusion, the hostesses, Mrs. 11. W. Kcrsley, Miss Finlay and Miss Doreen Kersley, were thanked for their hospitality. Among those present were: Mrs. C. Rogers, Mrs. Wyatt, Mrs. S. McLean, Mrs. Hollings. Mrs. Burn, Mrs. C. Robinson, and Misses N. Hurley. M. Ellis, N. Crammond, M. Murray, E. Rennie, M. Wardell, and A. Davies.

PARENTS’ NOMINATIONS Representatives on High School Board Three nominations have been received for the three vacancies for parents' representatives on the Hutt Valley High School Board of Governors. The three retiring members of the board were Messrs. C. E. J. Dowland, J. S. Hunter and J. B. Grey. The two former have been nominated for reelection, but Mr. Grey did not seek reelection. The new nomination is that of Mr. A. E. Spencer, a keenly interested supporter of the school. The poll was to have been held on Saturday, May 1, but as only the required number of nominations have been made no election will be necessary.
