ANNUAL MEETING
Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union
The annual meeting of the Wellington branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, which was held in the New Zealand Educational Institute rooms yesterday afternoon, was largely attended. Mrs. M. Dennis was in the chair.
In uresenting the tenth annual report, Mrs. T. B. McNeil, secretary, gave a. detailed account of the branch’s activities during the past year. She spoke of the number of necessitous cases that the branch had assisted through their community chest. Thanks were extended to all those who had held sewing bees and made useful garments for the poor. The work of the health stamp campaign committee was also praised. During the year representatives from the Women’s Division of the Fanners’ Union had attended a “Birth Control Clinic” meeting. The branch’s interest in the visit of Mrs. Alfred Watt, president of the Associated Countrywomen of the World, was mentioned. During the year the committee of the Wellington branch had had the opportunity of meeting the members of the advisory board while they were in conference. In conclusion, the secretary thanked all the members for their loyal support and co-operation, which had beep such a help and encouragement. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Goodson; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames J. S. Fleming, M. Dennis, and W. B. Preshaw; advisory member, Mrs. H. P. Middleton; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. T. B. McNeil; committee, Mesdames Jordan, 11. Scbneideman. Gamble, Charles Angus, Strang, Brookman, Meyer, Dod Coates, Misses Kennedy, Goldfinch, and Laing; representative on League of Nations Union, Mrs. H. Lundins. The meeting, which was a successful one from every point of view, was brought to a dose with afternoon tea, served by the tea committee.
