Yesterday’s Business RETURN ON INVESTMENTS Sales recorded on Dominion Stock Exchanges yesterday are shown in the lollowing list. In the second column is given the return based on the last annual dividead from investment at the quoted price. In calculating the return on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside New Zealand the exchange rates have not been taken into consideration, the return on 4 per cent. Government loans includes redemption. In the case of 3$ per cent, loans the return is for the interest alone, and covers only the period for which the loans are tax-free:

MACKY, LOGAN, CALDWELL, Large Increase in Net Profit Dominion Special Service. Auckland, April 19. >A net profit of £13,796 was earned by Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Limited, for the year ended February 19. These are the second annual accounts issued since the firm was reorganised on its present basis. The profit compares with £8442 for the first year of operation. The dividend is maintained at 6 per cent. It is proposed to transfer £6520 to income tax reserve, against £2450 in the previous year. Expenses totalled £71,615. against £62,805 the previous year. Wool Market Very Firm The Bank of New South Wales has received the following cable message from its London office dated April 16: “Wool : All qualities are in good demand, with prices for the fine grades steady, while medium and low sorts are very firm.” Electrolytic Zinc Debentures The Electrolytic Zinc. Company of Australia, Ltd., has informed the Stock Exchange Association that payment will be made on May 15 of tlie interest on debentures to holders registered at the closing cf the transfer books and debenture registed on April 30. Gold Mining Returns The Rimu dredge washed up on Tuesday afternoon for a return of 243.75 crude oz. of gold from 51,063 cubic yards of material dredged in, a period of 134 hours. New River Gold Dredging Company’s official return of gold won during the week ended April R was 550 z. of gold from 8000 yards treated in 111 hours of dredging time. The following is the official return of gold won by White’s Electric Dredge Company during the week ended April 15: 19oz. of gold from 6700 yards treated in 96 hours of dredging time.
