Australian Prime Minister (Received April 18, 6.30 p.m.) Konie, April 17. The Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, gave an audience to the Australian Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, who is en route to the Coronation. They had a long talk in which the Duce expressed friendship with Great Britain and affirmed his desire for world peace. The Pope yesterday gave an audience to Mr. Lyons at Vatican City. It is the first time since his illness that his Holiness has given an audience to a non-ecdesiastic.
The British Minister to Vatican City, Mr. F. D’A. G. Osborne, [was also received by the Pope.
