PLEASANT TRIP TO PANAMA
Voyage of the Arawa PRIME MINISTER AND CRICKET TEAM Pitcairn Man for England (From the Special Correspondent of the United Press Association.) (Received April 18, 7.20 p.m.) Balboa, April 17. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Arawa, with the Prime Minister, Mr. M. J. Savage, < other members of the Dominion’s delegation to the Coronation, and the New Zealand cricket team on board, arrived at Panama today after a pleasant voyage from Wellington. Delightful weather was experienced on the voyage from New Zealand and the cricketers practised frequently during the trip. They also have taken a prominent part in deck sports and gymnasium activities. The isolated and historic Pitcairn Island will be represented at the Coronation by Mr. George Young, a great-great-grandson of Edward Young, a midshipman on the Bounty at the time of the mutiny. Mr. Young, who is 61 years of age, boarded the Arawa at the island. He helped to row out one of the famous Pitcairn longboats and then scaled up the ship’s side on a rope like a man half his age. He -was born and bred on the island and has never been further before than Tahiti and New Zealand. He visited the Dominion in 1927, when he was operated upon by Sir Donald McGavin, of Wellington. He will stay in England for five weeks before returning to Pitcairn Island.
