Bilbao Blockade
Sir, —I much appreciated the common sense attitude of your sub-leader on the Bilbao -blockade which appeared on April 16. The same issue gave news of the movement of the loyalist (red) fleet ,to the north coast of Spain. It seems high time that such a movement was made. What a farcical situation it would be if British vessels were used to break the blockade while the Government fleet, whose job it obviously is, was lying safely in a Mediterranean port! The latter fleet, according to recent Valencia reports, is "now reconditioned and successfully shelled a procession nt Malaga and the rebel port of Ceuta. There is therefore no excuse for risking British ships and men in a task hitherto shirked by the Spanish Government’s own navy. John Bull cannot be fooled by such obvious means.—l am, etc., EX-ARMY. Wellington, April 16.
