Lamb Prices Easier DEMAND IMPROVING Lamb market: Shade easier, but demand is improving. Mutton market : Wethers and ewes quiet, with prices unchanged. Beef market: (.'billed beef: Heavier supplies this week, witli prices hindquarters steadier, and fores easier. Frozen beef firm, owing to light stocks. New Zealand porker pigs: Firmer for heavyweights; lightweights unchanged. New Zealand baeoncr pigs: Firmer owing to higher prices bacon. I The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat: Board from its Loudon office, which advises that the following are the approximate prices realised for the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week: —The market is fairly well supplied with wethers; moderate business has been done. The market for ewes is quiet, and unchanged. There is a fair demand for lambs. Both demand and prices for chilled beef are steady.

Goldmining Returns Talisman Duhbo reported to the Wellington Stock Exchange that 47 tons was treated at the Golden Dawn battery for an approximate realisation of £238. Worksop Extended Gold Dredging Co.. Ltd., reports a return for the week ended April 15 of 33 ounces from 12.000 cubic yards worked in 135 hours. By Telegraph—Press Association Greymouth, April 17. The Maori Gully return was 4Ooz. 9dwt. for 128 hours. Greymouth, April 18. The Mossy Creek dredge returned 250 z. 15dwt. for 130 hours from 8475 yards. Dunedin, April 18. The Waipapa Beach dredge reports a wash-up of 230 z. Bdwt. for 131 hours. The Gillespies Beach return for the past week was 790 z. 7dwt. for 123 hours. The Nemona Gold Dredging Co., Ltd., return for the week ended April 16 was 740 z. for 126 hours from 18,300 yards.
