CORONATION SHOW

Wellington Committee Meets LARGE HORSE ENTRIES The general committee of the Wellington Show Association discussed plans for its Coronation Show at a meeting last night, the president, Mr. C. J. B. Norwood, presiding. The show will be opened on May 1, and will conclude on May 15. On the finance committee’s recommendation, it was decided to allocate the sum of £2OO to tbe publicity committee for publicity purposes. Among the continuous entertainments during the show’ it was decided to have a fashion parade and movie pictures. Regarding the latter, suitaide scenic and industrial films are being arranged for, and there will be no admission charge made. It was reported that there would probably be 16 teams from various houses in the marching competition which will be staged for four nights. At the conclusion of each evening’s performance the teams will form a tableau on a revolving pyramid in the centre of the stadium, which will be illuminated by coloured lights. It was stated that this would be one of the most spectacular of the many entertainments to be staged. Children’s dancing would also be staged on the pyramid. A suitable coronation procession and trades display by business houses was being arranged and it was stated the project was being supported enthusiastically.

Tlie general manager. Mr. G. Mitchell, reported that indications were that horse entries would exceed those at any previous show by a large margin, and that extensive accommodation was being prepared both inside and outside the Winter Show building. The jumps had been renovated and new ones built where necessary.

The space committee reported that the whole of the side-show space as well as two-thirds of the general exhibit space had been let. Among the exhibits would be a district court from Nelson, and negotiations were proceeding with the Wairarapa for a similar stand.
