Eluded Captors For Four Hours Arrested just after he left the Awatea on Tuesday, Reginald Augustus Sussmilch, barman, aged 21, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court. Wellington, yesterday morning, to stowing away on the vessel. He was fined £lO, in default one month’s imprisonment, by Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M. Sussmilch was found on deck on Saturday night, and given accommodation in a tourist-class cabin until be could be handed over to the police when the Awatea reached Wellington. On Monday he went down to breakfast on the ship but disappeared soon afterward, and eluded searchers for about four hours. Sub-Inspector Dempsey, told the court that accused had 6/- on him when arrested. He gave the name of Reginald Williams. He was a single man, born in New South Wales. He spent nine days in a military camp just before he stowed away. There was nothing known against him in New Zealand.
