SCHOOL PRIZE-GIVING

Children’s Party at Pareniata

The annual presentation of Pareiuata School prizes, which, owing to tlie prevalence of infantile paralysis, had previously been postponed, was held j u the school last week. It took tlm form of a children’s fancy dress party, and it was evident that the parents had taken a great interest, as many attractive costumes were to be seen. Mr. L. G. Lowry. M.P., and Mrs. Lowry, were introduced by the chairman of the school committee. Mr. A. 11. Strong. Mr. Strong expressed the thanks of the committee to Mids M. Burrow for her generous donation of prizes to the school children who had collected the best specimens of native flora.

Mr. Lowry presented tlie prizes to those who had gained highest marks for either class work or attendance during the year. The distribution of toys and refreshments to the children ended a pleasant evening.
