PRISON ESCAPEE
Committed to Supreme Court For Sentence Dominion Special Service. Wanganui. March 25. William Joseph Gee, aged 30, a halfcasle Chinese, appeared in tlie Magistrate's Courl at Itaet.ihi yesterday before Messrs. L. W. Nation and E. O. Lightband. .t.l’.'s. on a number of charges',of breaking, entering and theft, conversion of iiiotor-vi'liicles to his own use, and escaping from tlie Waikuue prison camp on .March 10. Pleading guilty to all charges, he was committed to the Supreme Court al Wellington for sentence. Detec-tive-Sergeant J. K. Robertson, of Wanganui. conducted the ease for the police. There were 13 charges, one relating to escape from custody, six of theft, three of breaking and entering and theft, and three of unlawful conversion of motor-vehicles. Two of the charges related to theft of goods valued at less than £2, and on each of these accused was sentenced to three months'’ imprisonment. It was stated in evidence that accused had apparently been in the habit of leaving the camp from February 26 and going back there unnoticed.
