CAR SOMERSAULTS INTO CREEK

Man Drowned; Five Injured ACCIDENT ON NAPIERTAUPO ROAD Dominion Special Service. Napier, March 26. The accident occurred about six miles on the Taupo side of 'l’arawera. where the road is only 10 feet. wide. It is thought that the car struck a tree stump on the side of the road and somersaulted down the bank into the creek. The driver was evidently rendered unconscious and trapped beneath the water. A mail deliverer. Mr. Manson, who was following in his car, gave what assistance he could before the arrival Oc a doctor and two ambulances from Napier. The death of a woman and injury to her son resulted when the steering gear of a car failed in Devon Line today. -Mrs. TzOttii' Mary Harrison, widow, aged 61, was so severely injured that she died soon afterward. Her son, Albert George Harrison. driver of the car, was admitted to hospital with both collarbones fractured. When the steering failed the car capsized and skidded some distance. It was completely wrecked. Mrs. Harrison was extensively injured. Her son was reported late to-night to be progressing sa t isfactorily.
