STATE OF WAR
U.S. Senator Seeks Opinion on Position in Spain (Received March 27, 12.30 a.m.) Washington, March 26. Senator G. P. Nye (Republican. Wisconsin) moved a resolution in the Senate requesting an official opinion by the State Department as to whether Italy and Germany were at a state of war with loyalist Spain, with a view to Invoking the Embargo Act. He was careful not to name Italy and Germany in the resolution, but the meaning was apparent.
