Final Inter-club Challenges MALLET COMPETITIONS (By Penultimate.’) ' *March 27: Cambridge Eueter tournament, Cambridge. Pollock Stars Match. The final round lor the Pollock Stars this season was played on Tufc-day wlien Mesdames Winchcomb, and Shore ami (Island Bay) challenged the ho s Mesdames Brice and Richardson lllata - tai). The long shooting of W mclicomb was good, but she found the lawns very keen and failed to get positions at the hoops. King Brooches. The final round for the King brooches this season was played on Xgaronia l<i'' ns on Tuesday when Mesdarnos A. Miller and McAddam were again successful in retaining the trophies. On this occasion Mesdames Annear and -May (Central) were the challengers, and although the) played well they found the lawns heavy after the keen lawns of central. the final score was 26-21 in favour of Ngaroma.

Gold Mallet Competition. The Gold and Silver Mallets are presented by the New Zealand Croquet Council. ' The competition is open to players of four bisques and under and is played on the yankee principle.

This competition is now nearing completion. So far Mr. A. .T. Gibbs (Patea) is the only player who has not been defeated. Captain Hartnell (New Plymouth) has had one loss, but still has to meet Mr. Gibbs. If Captain Hartnell should defeat Mr. Gibbs they will then have to play the best of three games. Mrs. Thompson (Auckland) is next on the list with two losses, and to Mrs. Sar"•isson (Ngaroma) fell the honour of being the first to defeat Dlrs. Thompson. Several players in the tournament have three and four losses each. Mrs. Mathewson (Kelburn) and Mrs. Sargisson (Ngaroma ) have both been playing well during the tournament.

Woburn Club. , The president and members of the Woburn club entertained eight members of the Ngaio club for the day on Tuesday, the day being spent in playing onehour games, which were much enjoyed by the visitors, who appreciated the opportunity of playing on full-size lawns, which were in excellent condition. Ihe members of "Woburn club provider! luncheon and afternoon tea for the visitors.

Kelburn Club Farewell. Members of the Kelburn club held a social afternoon on Saturday to entertain four members of the club. Mesdames Palmer, Todd, Wallis and Israel, who will leave by the Rangitata for London. Mrs. Pope. ’also a member of Kelburn club, is already on her way to England.

Personals. Mr. R. W. McCreath (Gore), president of the New Zealand Croquet Council, expects to be in Wellington some time in April and anticipates visiting a number of the Wellington clubs. Mrs. Bassett (Masterton) has returned home after visiting Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. C. Bryan (Palmerston North) will shortly take up their residence at Lower Hutt, and will no doubt join one of the local clubs. Mrs. Deare (M’ellington), who visited New Plymouth during the recent tournament has returned home. Mrs. Brice (Hataitai) is visiting Napier for the Easter holidays.
