SCOTTISH HARRIERS’ CLUB

Very Successful Year Though not quite reaching the high standard set the previous year, last year was a very successful one both athletically and financially, stated the annual report of the Scottish Harriers and Amateur Athletic Club presented to the <innufil meeting last night. In the inter-club races during the season Scottish won the Dome Cup, the White McKay Shield, and Ingram Cup (provincial championships. A and B grades respectively). Shaw Batons. A and G grade. Craig Clip, Wanganui-Marton road relay, 25 miles B grade, and the Phipson Casket. The osseler and Bennett Memorial Shields bad been lost to the Brooklyn club. The dentils of Mr. W. H. Bennett and two vice-presidents, Mrs. W. Ballantyne and Mr. G. Lauchlan, were recorded with regret. It was considered that tlie Dorue Cup and Vosseler Shield races were held too early in the season. Mr. A. L. Stevens contended that tlie first Saturday in July was early enough for inter-club races. The delegates to the harrier sub-commit-tee of the Wellington centre were instructed to say that the club was not favour of holding inter-club races during the first half of the season. Referring to the visit of the Springboks in the coming season. Mr. Woodcock said he thought the club should not hold a formal run on the day of the Test match, but an unofficial run could he held. It was decided to make a recommendation to this effect to the incoming committee.
