Mass Prayer.—Nearly one hundred thousand devotees were present at the Badshahi Mosque, Lahore, India, on the last day of Ramzan (December 16), mass prayer being offered in celebration of the festival of Id-Ul-Fihr. This picture shows some of the devotees kneeling in prayer outside the mosque. The mosque itself was built at a cost of 600,000 rupees in 1674 A.D., and is now in urgent need of repair, which is estimated to cost six lakhs of rupees. A lakh is 100,000 rupees, or approximately £10,000.
