PRICE OF COAL
Increase From Next Monday At a meeting of the Wellington Coat Merchants and Dealers’ Association, consideration was given to a notification received front shipping companies that freight charges on New Zealand sea-borne coal would be increased to the extent of 2/6 per ton, and the fol lowing resolution was carried unanimously : “That this meeting of' the Wellington Coal Merchants’ and Dealers’ Association regrets that it is necessary to increase the price of New Zea land sea-borne coal by 2d. per ewt. for cwt. lots up to 4ewt.; 9d. for quarterton lots; 1/3 for half-ton lots; 2/6 per ton. Coal nuts to be increased by 2d. per cwt.” TOe new’ prices will take effect from Monday next, February 8.
