Prohibition of War Planes Urged (From “The Dominion,” February J, 1912.) The International Arbitration League has issued a protest against the use of aerial vessels in war time. It is urged that an international agreement should be made against such vessels. * « Harbour matters continue to provoke a good deal of interest in Wanganui, and there is a revival of the “harbour-in-town” agitation, though in a much modified form, as against the harbour Board's expressed intention to concentrate its energies on Castlecliff for the present. It is considered that within the next five years big steamers will be able to load at Castlecliffi and vessels of 2000 tons at. the town, which is a considerable, but. judicious modification of the ambitious scheme for the berthage of big steamers at town put forward some 12 months ago.
His Excellency the Governor is making a tour of what may truly be termeil the backblocks. Lord Islington left Rotorua yesterday for Te Wliaiti and Ruatahuna. To-day he will leave Ruutahuna with a guide on horseback at 6 a.m., and is expected to arrive at the edge of Lake Waikaremoana at noon, join a launch which will be waiting, and arrive at the accommodation house at, say, 2 p.m. To-morrow he will leave Lake Waikaremoana by motor-car for Wairoa; on Fridaj’ leave Waiuoa by motor-car for Gisborne, and on Sunday leave Gisborne by s.s.
