Government Plans Early Construction GREAT BROADCASTING CENTRE "We are going right ahead with the project, of establishing in Wellington ti great broadcasting centre and a national conservatorinm of music and spoken arts,” said the Prime Minister, lit. Hon. M. J. Savage, yesterday in an interview. “There will be no delay in construction.” “A building will be erected on the best modern plan,” the Prime Minister added, “and, in addition to meeting all requirements for a long time to come it will add to the architectural amenities of the capital. Departmental experts are now inspecting various sites in the city, but a final selection has not. been made. The building will give ample accommodation for the broadcasting staff in addition to an academy of music and spoken arts.” “With Professor Shelley, Director of Broadcasting, the Government believes that there is a promising field of talent in New Zealand well worth development, We are determined to provide adequate facilities and opportunity for bringing such talent to full expression tind international service.”
