The' new department store now being erected alongside the Post Olhee is set back from the main strpet approximately 14 feet, and a corresponding amount ot land has been granted by the borou-h council to the owners at the rear of 11 li present section, so that the now building actually reaches back over the ptesenl boundary of Itiddiford Park. Negotiations in connection with the demolition of the present Post 0 bee and the erection of a modern one on the opposite side of the street and a little H'ler up are continuing, but nothing definite has yet been arranged. Borough oflieals will make no statement as to the council’s plans u|Kin any future street widening, nor "ill th y say when the next step will be taken, but there is no doubt that the «uestion is bound up with that ot the reorgan satiorf that will necessarily follow the sliittin of the Post Office, and for which plans have already been made. Meauwh c, the initial stage has been undertaken without exciting a great deal of comment, except, perhaps, from interested parties.
