Hutt Beats Shandon MIRAMAR SUMMER CUP Fine weather was enjoyed by golfers over the week-end. A match between teams representing the Hutt ami Shandon clubs, on the Shandon links yesterday, resulted in a narrow win for Hutt by (me game. The match was played on handicap. W. J. Davidge. the Shandon champion, just managed to beat J. L. Black (Hutt), in the game between the No. I’s, by a narrow margin.

(I. P. Roberts (Hutt) outplayed R. G. Hayward by 3 and 1, and I). M. Boyd defeated R. Chandler by 2 and 1. The fourball best-ball match in the afternoon resulted iu both teams winning six games, with two games halved. The Hutt players were well pleased with the condition of the Shandon course. Miramar Club •The qualifying round for the Summer Cup competition was played on the Miramar links on Saturday. Hollis, the Miramar champion, holed his tee shot at the twelfth hole “Coates’ Fancy”), 175 yards, on Saturday, and was hajled with enthusiasm on returning to the clubhouse. Shandon Club A medal round played at Shandon on Saturday was won by W. S. Corbett, with 80-16-61. Other good cards were: W. B. Brown, 84-18-66; A. J. Lippiatt. 83-24-69: G. McGregor, 76-6-70: J. C. Low, 84-13-71. The joint winners of a bogey round played yesterday were C. Edgar (7) and Rex Lulham (4), 2 up. A fourball best-balj competition was won by McGregor and Lockett, 8 up. Other good cards were: Young and Lulham and Hayward and Davidge, 5 up; Griffin and Hollis and McLean and Chandler, 4 up. Hutt Club A Stableford bogey competition on the Hutt links on Saturday afternoon was won by J. B. Scott, with 39 points. Next came K. W. McLeod (8), 38; T. H. Griffin (14), 37; A. K. Doyle (14) and S. C. Turner (5), 36. A bogey competition yesterday was won by R. Adams (7), who finished all square. A. K. Doyle (14), was 1 down. A fourball bogey was won by D. F, Porter (9) and N. A. Clouston (10), with 7 up. Manor Park Club A stroke competition on the Manor Park links on Saturday was won by Miss Kate Kerr, with a not score of 68. A Stableford event yesterday resulted in a tie between E. Butler, 32-2-34, and D. Butler, 31.-3-34, the former winning on a count back. A best-ball Stableford competition yesterday was won by Miss George and J. Forbes (11). with 40 points. A pleasant social evening was spent by members of the Manor Park club at the Brown Owl Cabaret on Saturday. Some 18 members were present, as well as members of the Shandon and Judgeford clubs. The president of the Manor Park club, Mr. A. S. T. Butler, on behalf of the members, presented the honorary secretary, Mr. J. L. Barnard, with a safety-razor, and the captain, Mr. L. Fitt. with a reading lamp and a pipe, in appreciation of the good work they had done during the 1936 season. Glenside Club An exhibition was played on the Glenside links on Saturday afternoon by the four local professionals—R. C. Butters (who laid out the links). A. J. Shaw (open champion of New Zealand), N. H. Fuller and J. D. Mclntosh. All were in good form, and their exhibition was enjoyed by a fair-sized gallery, who were favourably impressed with the new course.
