“HAPPIEST PEOPLE”
Tribute to British ' Andre Maurois, French author, who is. supposed to know the British better than we know ourselves, has been in London gathering material for a big history on the “development of the British type.” “The British,” said M. Maurois to a “Sunday Chronicle” reporter, “are the happiest people in the world. “And the Englishwoman? I am never tired of talking about her. “When she is beautiful —then she is more beautiful than any woman in France. The legend that she is dowdy is dead. “How do I know about the English? I served four years in the British Army. As an interpreter. I wrote a book about it. “The book sold 100,000 copies. Why shouldn’t I love the British?”
