HOMING PIGEONS

Petone Club’s Races The Petone Homing Pigeon Club Hew during the week-end a flock race from Dunedin. 388 milee. The birds were held over until Sunday morning on account ot rough weather, and, having favourable weather, covered the distance in a little over 1.0 hours. A second race was an interval from Whnngarei, 353 miles, the birds being liberated with 15 mnnitvfi between each bird by Mr. Gilbey on Saturday morning. The birds encountered very bad weather en route, no birds homing on the day. This race was for a valuable silver cup donated by Mr. Mclntyre, and known as the champion cup, for competition over a period of seven years. The member with the most wins during that period becomes the owner of the cup. Messrs. Woodward and Son. having won the cup in 193-1 and again in 1936. now before the owners.
