The following committees, to hold office for the ensuing twelve months, were appointed to-night, when an executive meeting of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce was held: — Finance: Messrs. A. S. Williams, jun., R. G. Taiboys, W. J. Gibson, and S. J. Goodey. THEFT OF £250 ALLEGED Palmerston North, December 7. Charged to-day with the theft of £250. the property of Edward Houlihan, proprietor, Imperial Hotel, Malcolm Victor Smith, store assistant, was remanded until to-morrow. Christmas “Clean-up ” The usual year-end clean-up is being administered, to the Wellington Town Hall. This includes the painting of the interior lantern light high above the main stairway, and the upper walls. The scaffolding in the main upstairs corridor calls for more thau usual care on the part of the visitor.
