Ashburton Gas Company

In their report on the work of the year, the directors of the Ashburton Gas, Coal, and Coke Company, Ltd., state that the appropriation account shows a credit balance of £3335/7/'S. They recommend that it should bo dealt with as follows: — Write £843/10/- off the plant accounts for depreciation; place £l5O to (lie renewal account: pay a dividend at the rate of 7 per cent., absorbing £1671/3/7; anti carry the balance, £673/14/1 forward. Gold Mining Returns Talisman Dubbo yesterday reported to the Wellington Stock Exchange that 42 tons 4cwt. was treated at tile Golden Dawn battery for an approximate realisation of £267. The secretary of the Lawson's Flat Gold Sluicing Company reports that the wash-up for the two and a half weeks ended November 6 was 41oz. 12dwt. of retorted gold.
