TROTTING RULING

35-Minute Race Interval Must Be Observed By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, September 16. The rule providing for a 35-minute interval between races must be observed, according to a decision of the New Zealand Trotting Association in reply to representations from the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club. The association states that it has no power to give permission to clubs to depart from this rule. “There seems to be an impression that there is no penalty prescribed for a breach of the rules by a club, but this is erroneous. If a club breaks the rule, the association has the power under Rule 60 to cancel or suspend the certificate of registration of a club, and under Rule 379. may, iu the case of a wilful breach, inflict a line of any amount.” Iu the case of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club the explanation was accepted.
