COVERING OF SCHOOL FLOORS
Committees Interested , Following a discussion at the August meeting of the Wellington Education Board on the question of providing floor covering for schools, a number of committees have written to the board complimenting it on the suggestion. At yesterday’s meeting of the board a.letter was read frbm\ the Ngaio School committee forwarding a resolution passed at a meeting on September 8 “that the Education Board be asked to supply linoleum to cover all the flooring at the Abbott Road School, the school committee to hold itself responsible for half the cost, not exceeding £50.” Mr. J. J. Clark, who introduced the subject at the August meeting, moved that the board make application to the Education Department for a grant for the Ngaio School, and this was carried.
The chairman, Mr. W. V. Dyer, mentioned that in company with the secretary, Mr. W. I. Deavoll, he had recently waited on Mr. R. Savage the department’s architect who had informed them the department was prepared to cover the upstairs corridor of the now Clyde Quay School for a width of 6ft. This work was at present being put in hand and it would certainly be a distinct improvement. Mr. Clark: Very good indeed.
