BURGLARY EPIDEMIC
Further Robberies In Masterton DISTRICT INTERESTS Dominion Special Service. Mastertoil, September 15. In spite of the vigilance being exercised by the Mastertou police the epidemic of burglaries during the last few months has not yet stopped, and it was ascertained this morning that two more premises —the office of tbe Mastertou County Council, and the Mastertou Spinning and Hosiery Mills—had been entered, either on Monday night or early this morning. From the county office about £4 was stolen from the desk of the county clerk, Mr, J, C. D. Mackley. The money was not the property of the county, but it represented amounts Mr. Mackley had been collecting for football trophies. The thief was not so successful at the hosiery mills. There having been a previous burglary there, only one penny was left in the till. This was taken This is the third time the county offices have been entered. About a year ago the safe w s blown with gelignite, but in the reeent epidemic gelignite lias not been u«eu New Post Office Wanted at Greytown. A meeting was convened in Greytown recently to arrange for representations t<> be made to the Government for a new post office. It was generally agreed that tbe present building was hopelessly in adequate. The postmaster hud been given many additional duties to perform, and on two days in the week it was al most impossible for women to npproacn the office because of the large attendance of unemployed men reporting.
