Yesterday’s Business , I •SALES IN THE DOMINION Dealings recorded on the .Metropolitan stock exchanges of the Dominion .yesterday were as follows :—

Ballin’s Breweries A statutory meeting of shareholders of Ballin’s Breweries (N.Z.),' Limited, Christchurch, is to be held to discuss matters relating to the formation of the company or arising- out of the statutory report. The report, which has been issued to shareholders, states that the total number of shares allotted‘is 200,510 of £1 each, and of these 20,000 are fully paid. The total amwount of cash received to August 31 was £85,155 for the remaining. 180,510 shares. The company, which has a.n authorised capital of £250,000 in ordinary shares! of £1 each, went to allotment oh June 23, its objects being to acquire the business of Baltin Brothers, Limited, and Hickmott’s Victoria Brewery, Christchurch. Adelaide Steamship Co. Directors of the Adelaide Steamship Company, Ltd., in their report for the year ended June 30. state that, after providing for depreciation of fleet and plant and increasing the insurance reserve by £lO,OOO, the net profit was £139,312. This compares -with £139.651 the previ--ous year. The balance brought forward was £587, making £139.599 available. The interim dividend of 2} per cent.' paid in March absorbed £58.128, and the directors have now declared a dividend at the rate of 7 per cent, ner annum for the half-year ended June 30, making 6 per cent, for the year. The previous, year’s dividend of 6 per cent, was paid in two half-yearly dividends of 3 per cent. inch. Commonwealth Bank Profit The Commonwealth Bank reports a profit of £681,483 for the half-year ended June 30, compared with £638.951 for the previous half-year and £623.807 for the corresponding half-year, 1935. The profit of the general banking department was £205,497, compared with £214,082 six months previously, and £210,872 a year previously. Half of the profit goes to the reserve fund of the department and half to the national debt sinking” fund. The profit of the rural credits department was £23,423, as against £21.735 for the previous half-year, and £24,267 for the corresponding half-year of 1935. The profit of the note issue department was £452,563, compared with £403.157 six months previously, nnd £386.669 a year previously. The whole of the profit of this department goes to the Commonwealth Treasury. Nemona Gold Dredge The Nemona dredge has just worked through a narrow spur, below the dam. in poor going, with a rising bottom. As the dredge passes through this spur it goes into an area of twenty acre.* recently taken up below the original claim. The company intends to bore this ground ahead of the dredge simultaneously with the dredge working into position. The machinery is working satisfactorily. Mount Lyell Production The Mount Lyell Alining and Railway Co.. Ltd., has issued the following progress report for the fortnight ended September 2:—North Mount Lyell:.’lons ex traeted 5548. Royal Tht'iwls- lons extracted 2516. West Lyell: Ton.- extracted 17.612. Prince Lyell : Tons extracted 2411. Lyell Comstock : Tons extracted 4412. Nd. 7 level. No. 2 mullock pass rise to 88ft. through low grade ore. No. 8 level, main crosscut to 118 ft. through mineralised schist; north drive to 32ft. through ore; main shaft sunk to 57ft. below No. 8 level through porphyry. Reduction works: Furnace in blast for full period; 11,116 tons refinery anodes produced for current year. Concentrator: Mill operated 336 hours and treated 30,564 tons ore. producing 2284 tons eon centrates. Copper refinery : Tank house in operation throughout fortnight; 511 tons cathode copper being produced for period.. Total for current year 12,071 tons.
