Broken Hill Proprietary were much in favour and prices showed ffurther gains, business being done at up to <B/ and the 15/- paid new issue advancing to eales at 57/3. Buyers of the fully-paids staved in at 73/9, sellers advancing to 79/- G. J. Coles were firmer, business being done at 81/6. to 81/9, more being wanted at the former price. . In other sections the demand was quiet and prices showed little movement. Dominion Breweries advanced to3o/9, theie being no offers from holders. Goldsbrough Morts firmed to 34/1, sellers asking twoPe ßusiness recorded on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday was as toxlows: —

Australian Guarantee Corporation records a net profit of £44,2-11 for the year ended June 30, and dividends of £10,187 from investments, a total of £54,428. Of this amount, £3831 has been reserved for income tax. The previous year the net profit was stated at £21.734. There was no statement as to dividends j>n investments in that year, when £5OOO was transferred to tax reserve. With £14.17 brought forward. £52.094 is available. Dividends are 7i per cent. (3 per cent, interim and 4% per cent, final) on the paid-up capital, requiring £24,822, 1 per cent, on the uncalled capital accounting for £778. and 6 per cent, on preference capital, absorbing £1167. After writing back £4472 from exchange reserve account, £9347 from bad debts recovered account. and £4184 from insurance account, an amount of £36,000 is written off prorights, and £4671 _off furniture and motor-care, leaving £2659 to be carried forward.
