EX-PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA

Visit to South Island After spending yesterday on a round of visits and private calls, the Rt. Hon. R. B. Bennett, formerly Prime Minister of Canada, left last night for the South Island. He intends to return to Wellington next Sunday morning and to remain In the city until September 24, when he_will leave for Australia in the Wanganella. • Mr. Bennett, whose tour is a private one, arrived in Wellington on Sunday and was a guest at Government House. Yesterday morning at 11 a.m. he visited the Awatea and inspected it in company with Lady Galway. Earlier he paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) and members of Cabinet, with whom he afterward lunched at Bellamy’s. A number of members of both Houses of Parliament were also present. While in the South Island Mr. Bennett will visit Christchurch and Dunedin. ,
