FOOTBALL DANCE
Scots College Pupils Made an outstanding event by weeks of eager preparation and expectation on the part of the pupils, the Scots College school football dance, held at the college on Saturday, was even more successful than was anticipated. Attended mostly by the older pupils and by girls from the Queen Margaret College, the dance was entered into with especial enthusiasm and enjoyment because it was the first most of them had ever been to. The gymnasium had been decorated with great care. A large cluster of multi-coloured balloons held pride of place in the centre of the ceiling, and from here rows of tiny flags radiated to each corner of the room, alternating with baloons and streamers. Large jardinieres containing shining cellophane flowers and flax made additional brightness round the room and on the stage, where a large college flag, draped at the back, added a finishing touch. Bright music and novelty dances added further to the evening’s gaiety and a delicious buffet supper was greatly appreciated. Mr. J. A. Sutcliffe, principal of Scots College, and Mrs. Sutcliffe, were host and hostess. Also present were Miss. Wilson, principal of Queen Margaret College, and Air. and Mrs. Francis, Mr. and Mrs. Vercoe, Mr. and Mrs. Cormack, Captain and Mrs. Duffy, Miss Webb, Miss 0. E. MacKenzie, Miss Brown, Mr. Hogg, and Mr. Bidding. Such was the success of the dance that it is intended to make it an annual one. Others present were: Misses M. Heath, A. Eichelbaum, A. Hill, S.
