FRENCH CLUB REUNION
The fortnightly reunion of the Oercle Francais was held in the Pioneer Club’s reception hall, when Dr. Marshall Macdonald lectured on “Les Chateaux de la Touralne.” The lecture was illustrated by lantern slides, the machine being manipulated by Mr. F. E. Greenish. A diverting item, “La Guide tie I’Enfant a la Beaute,” was given by Miss Eleanor Pharazyn, this being a translation by herself of a Beverley Nicholls sketch. Miss Mary Bald sang “Open Thy Blue Eyes” (Massenet) and resimntled to an encore with “Song Remembered” (Eric Coates). , The programme concluded with community singing, directed by the president (Mr. Balham) and Dr. Keys, after which supper was served under the supervision of Miss Mackay (assistant secretary). Madame Bendall conducted the conversation circle, and Miss Coralie Smytbson received. M. Erast Alexandre, a visitor from Melbourne, was present. At the next reunion Sacha Guitry’s charming play, “Le Voyage de Tchong-Li,” will be presented.
To keep a thermos flask sweet and dry when not in use, wash and drajn it well, and put into it several small pieces of charcoal. The flask may then be corked, and. will be quite clean when required.
