Lady Wilford, who recently returned from England and paid a brief visit to Mrs. E. C. Wilford, Wicksteed Street, Wanganui, is now staying at Paekakariki.

Mrs. U. W. Neilsen, Kelburn, is visiting Auckland. Miss Downie Stewart, Dunedin, is visiting Wellington. Miss Edith Gow, Seatoun, who has been in Marlborough for several months, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. J. I. Goldsmith, J.P., and Mrs. A. McVicar, J.P., Wellington, left yesterday by car for a visit to Hastings, Mrs. F. Williams, Wellington, will leave for Auckland next week to stay with her sister, Mrs. A. Goldie, Herne Bay. Miss Russell-Fergusson, the Scottish Bardess of the Gorsedd, will leave at the week-end for Hastings and Napier on route to Auckland.

Mrs. Fleming, Walpukurau, who has been the guest of Mrs. Norman Richards, Wellington, has returned to Hawke’s Bay. Mrs. Stewart, New Plymouth, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Claude 'Weston, Aurora Terrace, has returned to Taranaki, Mrs. Basil Hartman, Wadestown, who was a passenger on the Monowai’s island cruise, returned to Wellington yesterday. Madame La Meri (Signora Carreras), the international dancer, who is visiting Wellington, will be the guest of honour at a reception at the Pioneer Club at three o’clock on Monday afternoon.

Signor and Signora Marot la, who have commenced their second tour of Australia under the Australian Broadcasting Commission, left Hobart on Wednesday for Melbourne. They will sing at 3LO next Monday night at 11.30 o’clock (New Zealand time), and also on the following Wednesday night at 10.45. Signora Marotta was formerly Miss Eva Webb Jones, of Wanganui. Miss Doris Frost, who for some years has been a member of the staff at Parliament House of the PostmasterGeneral, has been appointed to the staff of the New Zealand Trade and Tourist Commissioner at Toronto, Canada. Miss Frost, who is a daughter of Mrs. J. A. Frost, Glcnmore Street, is an ex-student of the Christchurch Girls’ High School and Canterbury College. The term of her appointment is for three years, and she is taking the place of Miss Jean McKenzie, who has been transferred to the High Commissioner’s office, London. Miss Frost is to leave Welling ton by the Maunganui on August 4.
